Corona vaccination requirement: I would write this comment differently today

In mid-November I asked for a general vaccination and was annoyed by the egoism of the unvaccinated. A reader reacted - and my feeling evaporated.

It wasn't the hate news that surprised me.

If you call for a corona vaccination for everyone, you have to be prepared for such reactions.

On the other hand, I hadn't expected an email like the one from Mr Bruhns, whose name is actually different.

Mr. Bruhns wrote in the very first sentence that he was not a lateral thinker.

He has absolutely nothing to reproach me for, he doesn't even know me.

But he would like to point out that there are still people like him.

Mr Bruhns says he has mental health problems and is an alcoholic.

And sometimes it takes longer before you can take care of a vaccination.

One section from this mail stuck in my mind in particular.

Mr Bruhns wrote: “Anyone who knowingly and willingly refuses to be vaccinated is a fool.

But how many can perhaps only commute between home and net, how many are tired of life and how many sleep under the bridge and struggle with social responsibility because they are no longer part of it anyway? "

In the comment I had also made my anger about the lack of solidarity of the unvaccinated air.

After Mr Bruhns' letter, this anger fizzled out.

His words reminded me that a vaccination campaign that overlooks people like him is not particularly solidarity either.

And that the hurdles on the way to vaccination are not the same for everyone in our society.

With that in mind, I would probably write another comment today.

Incidentally, Mr Bruhns managed to do it anyway, he wrote to me: After a stressful day for him, he has now been given a double vaccination.
