(ANSAmed) - TEL AVIV, DECEMBER 31 - The director general of the Israeli health ministry, Nahman Ash, has today given authorization for the administration of a fourth dose of Pfizer vaccine in nursing homes for the elderly and in hospitals.
This was announced by the ministry of health according to which this decision was taken out of fear that in those institutions there will be a wave of infections that could even cost human lives.
Employees of those establishments will also now be able to obtain a fourth dose if they wish.
Yesterday, after a long series of consultations, Ash had authorized the administration of the fourth dose to the immunosuppressed.
In the meantime, the ministry of health reported that the fifth wave is advancing and that yesterday about 5,000 COVID infections (1000 more than the previous day) out of a total of 157,000 swabs.
