(ANSA) - LOS ANGELES (USA), DEC 31 - The fires that are ravaging Colorado have already potentially destroyed more than 500 homes, the Boulder County sheriff said last night, while the western US state is hit by a historic drought.
"We know that about 370 houses in the Sagamo subdivision have been destroyed. It is possible that another 210 have been destroyed in Old Town Superior," explained Joe Pelle at a press conference.
At least 648 acres of greenery went into smoke in the Boulder County, with the flames reaching even hotels and shopping malls. "I would like to emphasize the extent and intensity of this fire and its presence in such a densely populated area: we would not be surprised if there were injured or dead," warned Sheriff Pelle.(HANDLE).
