What's behind the rumors?
Munich - With more than two billion active users, WhatsApp is without a doubt one of the most popular messaging applications.
In the family, among friends and also in companies, the application has long been a natural means of communication.
The developers work regularly to publish updates, as is the case with many other apps.
Now a rumor is circulating on the net about an alleged new function.

The speculation is a possible third tick in WhatsApp messages.
It has been the case for a long time: If a gray tick appears in the lower right next to the sent message, this means that the message was sent successfully.
Two gray check marks mean that the message successfully arrived at the recipient's phone, while two blue check marks mean that the recipient has read the message.
According to rumors, WhatsApp now wants to add a Snapchat-like function with the third check mark.
The sender of the message should be notified with the additional blue tick if the other person takes a screenshot of the conversation.

Are the rumors really true?
In this case, the supposed third tick is just a network myth, as the website
WABetaInfo
revealed.
The portal is constantly releasing planned new features and beta functions of WhatsApp.
The portal denied the rumors about a third tick with a tweet.
"WhatsApp does not develop a third blue tick to recognize screenshots: they are false reports," said the post on Twitter.
