The police in Dresden said they were pelted with objects from a group of people on New Year's Eve.
The officers met 50 to 100 people in the Leipziger Vorstadt district shortly after midnight, the police said.
These would have set up obstacles on the road and set them on fire.
An emergency vehicle was damaged by throwing bottles.
Most people left the place when riot police arrived.
According to the Twitter account of the Saxony Police, emergency services have been deployed to 262 missions in the area of the Dresden Police Department over the turn of the year.
In the Gorbitz district, a 21-year-old was life-threateningly injured when a cigarette machine was blown up.

There were also riots in Leipzig on New Year's Eve.
Now the police are investigating for breach of the peace.
About half an hour after midnight, reports of burning objects were received at a street crossing, the police said.
People "in the middle three-digit range" had gathered on Eisenbahnstrasse.
Police forces and vehicles were thrown at from one group.
The situation was initially dynamic and confusing, but was under control again at around 2 a.m., said a police spokesman.
There were no injuries.
Before midnight, the Leipzig police had reported small fires and property damage.
On New Year's Eve she was out again with numerous emergency services in the city area and initially mainly in the Connewitz district, which is considered an alternative to the left.
There had been riots there two years ago.
Last year, strangers set Bundeswehr vehicles on fire on the premises of a car dealership.
