Method for testing whether an avocado is ripe - without destroying it (nude_nutritionist)
Nothing sucks more than cutting an avocado at home and finding out you made the wrong choice and it is already completely browned.
Ticket user MommyLifeSquad has shared her surprising trick, which helps her discover the freshness of the avocado even in the supermarket, before she pays for it - and it always works.
The solution is to remove the "cap" at the top of the avocado (i.e. the part where the avocado attaches to the tree).
She writes on the video: "I bet you did not know this thing about avocados."
Immediately afterwards she demonstrates: "Take off your hat. If the color that appears underneath is white - it is rotten."
She takes off her hat, shows the camera the color white, cuts the avocado in half and reveals that it is indeed completely rotten.
She continues: "If the color below is brown, the avocado is about to spoil. If it is green - it's perfect."
She also demonstrates the other two options and proves them to be true and accurate.

The viewers were impressed.
"Wow, I learned something new today," one reporter and another added, "I had no idea. Now I know how to buy the most impressive avocado in the supermarket."
Another spoiled the joy a bit when he remarked that removing the hat causes the avocado to spoil: "This is 100 percent true, but it also causes air to enter which causes the avocado to spoil quickly," the viewer wrote, in which the video's publisher wrote: "Wow, good to know."
So just - once you find a ripe avocado - eat it fast.
