Joe Biden phoned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today after his talks with Vladimir Putin "making it clear that the US and its allies and partners will respond resolutely if Russia invades Ukraine further".
This was reported in a note by White House spokesman Jen Psaki.
The two leaders, it says, "have expressed support for the diplomatic efforts, starting next week with the bilateral dialogue (US-Russia, ed) for strategic stability, the NATO-Russia Council and the OSCE".
Ukraine appreciates the "unwavering support" of the United States.
