Covid-19 in France: 91 new deaths, more than 19,000 hospitalized patients

Contaminations due to the Omicron variant are exploding in Europe, France is no exception with more than 200,000 cases recorded daily since December 29, an unprecedented number since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

But it is the Delta variant which is who "is responsible today for the rise in intensive care hospitalizations", according to the Minister of Health.

This Sunday, Public Health France counted 19,043 patients with Covid-19 treated in hospital, while there were 18,811 the day before, and 16,365 on December 26.

This threshold of 19,000 hospitalized patients had not been reached since May 25.

In the past 24 hours, 652 patients have been admitted to French hospital services.

Among these patients, the health agency has 3,572 patients in critical care, the care units reserved for the most severe cases, against 3,560 the day before and 3,299 a week earlier.

In 24 hours, 101 patients integrated critical care.

In addition, 91 new deaths linked to Covid-19 were also recorded this Sunday, bringing the total of deaths to at least 123,940 in France.
