On the anniversary of his death, the Adelson family announces an unprecedented donation to the Israeli health system: The late Sheldon Adelson ordered a donation of $ 40 million before his death for the establishment of a cancer center at the Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv.

The generous donation of the late Adelson and his wife Miriam Shatla will enable the construction of the center to begin, while continuing to obtain additional sources of funding, totaling about NIS 700 million, and the name of the Adelson couple will be commemorated by naming the tower after them.

The Adelson Tower will be the most magnificent and advanced hospital tower in public medicine in Israel that will rise to a height of 20 floors of about 40,000 square meters. The tower will be built in two phases over five years, in the southwest wing of the medical center , Will be connected directly to the tunnel from the light rail that is currently being built in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area for thousands of visitors a day in the entire medical center complex.

The tower will include basement floors for the parking lot, an underground wing for proton medicine, an oncology institute and floors for inpatient units, clinics and institutes.

It will include a full package for oncology patients, clinics and institutes, under one roof: a rapid registration and diagnosis unit for oncology patients, an institute of oncology focused on breast, lung and colon diseases, a medical imaging services support center, a molecular oncology medical treatment center, a rehabilitation and support services unit Oncologists.

In addition, the Department of Pediatric Hemato-Oncology, which is currently located at Dana-Duak Children's Hospital, will move to the Cancer Center.

The treatment using proton medicine is in a real line for children and young people, because until now it was possible to undergo this quality treatment only abroad, which involved complex and expensive logistical assessments.

The new center will focus on research using advanced methods as well as centers of excellence, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health for Cancer and Epidemiology Policy.

Beyond the advanced facilities and state-of-the-art equipment that will house the center, the place will operate from a fully holistic view of patients and with support in each of the stages, with an emphasis on patient well-being, through rehabilitation to full recovery.

The tower will also include the National Institute, the first of its kind in Israel for proton medicine, which was the center of the center, after the Ichilov Tel Aviv Medical Center won the center of the Ministry of Health.

The establishment of this institute in Israel is in line with the most advanced health systems in the world and will provide a solution for all oncology patients in Israel.

Proton radiation is an advanced radiotherapy treatment for cancer.

Similar to other advanced technologies in radiotherapy, proton irradiation works by accurately transferring high-energy radiation to the tumor.

Radiation damages the DNA of cancer cells and leads to the destruction of these cells.

Using proton medicine it will be possible to irradiate the tumor itself without damaging the surrounding tissue and reducing side effects.

The possibility of receiving the treatment in Israel will significantly facilitate the patients, including those patients, with an emphasis on children and young people, who have to fly abroad to receive it.
