New rules on Dad and quarantine

could be on the way to

school, in view of the resumption of the school year after the Christmas holidays.

The institutes are ready to restart between 7 and 10 January, but in some territories the reopening will postpone due to the infections.

Also for this reason the Government is studying, in agreement with the Regions, different rules, especially in elementary and sixth grade schools, given the start of the 5-11 vaccination campaign.

To reiterate his line is the Minister of Education, Patrizio Bianchi, for whom it

is "a priority to protect face-to-face teaching"

. After the proposal of the Regions, which finds many points of agreement with the Executive, it seems very probable that even for elementary schools and the sixth grade - as is already the case for the following ones - it can be foreseen,

in the case of two successful students positive in a class, only five-day self-surveillance

(with 10-day tests) for children vaccinated (or healed in the last three months) and 10-day quarantine with Dad (the latter case where applicable) for non vaccinated.

With three infections in a single class, it would then be the ASL to evaluate further measures such as the suspension of the activity in presence.

In kindergartens, however, there would remain a ten-day quarantine for all with a swab with only one positive case

.

Evaluations, the latter, which could reach the Cdm next January 5th.

The President of the Conference of the Regions, Massimiliano Fedriga - who met Bianchi and Speranza on Friday 31 December - assures: "these are hypotheses of intervention which, along the lines of what was done with the latest decree, also lighten the world of schools on the front of the protocols, quarantines and tampons currently envisaged.

These are technical proposals that - he adds - we want to deepen and share with the Executive to protect the hospitals increasingly burdened by hospitalizations and to allow a resumption of the school year in the presence, considering the trend of the epidemic curve that appears to be driven precisely by an important progression in the range from 6 to 13 years ".

And after the compulsory vaccination for school staff (started last December 15) the next certain measure with the restart of the school in 2022

will be the use of Ffp2 by teachers in kindergarten

, as well as in those classes of the primary and secondary where there are pupils who do not have a mask because they are exempted for specific reasons. But these new restrictions, with the 5-11 vaccination campaign starting just two weeks ago and still slow (88.4% without any dose yet, according to the latest report), may not be enough.

Campanian governor Vincenzo De Luca evaluates the hypothesis of closing elementary schools in the presence for a month - and therefore with lessons in Dad - to proceed with the administrations and allow them to reopen safely. "Right now - says De Luca - the bulk of the Covid infection concerns the ages of 5-11 and 0-16 years. It would seem right to use a month to expand vaccination for small children and reopen the institutions safely".

The return to municipal infant-toddler centers and preschools in the Municipality of Siena has been postponed to Monday 10 January "following the evolution of the city's pandemic situation and quarantine measures involving school staff and various bubble sections of infant-toddler centers and schools of the 'municipal childhood' mind also postponed the reopening of schools in Abruzzo to 10 January, according to a regional ordinance which provides for the suspension of educational activities on 7 and 8 January.
