A German skier had a fatal accident in Austria.
The woman from Cologne fell on a red - i.e. moderately difficult - slope in the Wilder Kaiser ski area in Tyrol, the police said.
On the hard, slightly icy slope, she reportedly slid around 200 meters down the valley and hit head first against a protection at the edge of the slope.
The 45-year-old, who was traveling with a group of five, suffered fatal head injuries, according to police.
The Innsbruck public prosecutor ordered an autopsy and the seizure of the damaged ski helmet.
