The police in Thuringia are investigating a man who is said to have hindered the emergency services after a fire in his son's nursery.
In the room in an apartment building in Mühlhausen, a fire broke out on Sunday evening for a cause that has not yet been conclusively clarified, the police said.
The heavily drunk father put out the flames before the fire brigade arrived - but then prevented them from entering the smoky room and taking the six-year-old boy to the hospital as a precaution.
The local police finally handcuffed him.
Suspected negligent arson
He was arrested and put in a detention cell for one night, it said.
He was released on Monday.
A spokeswoman said the man was being investigated on suspicion of negligent arson.
In addition, the allegation of domestic violence is in the room.
The boy's mother, who was also heavily drunk, had a head injury, according to police, and was also taken to the hospital.
The boy was handed over to the care of the youth welfare office and is expected to be released from the hospital on Tuesday, the spokeswoman said.
