Instead of an exciting reunion of the Harry Potter stars, we got a boring behind-the-scenes docu | Israel today

The special union of the stars of the successful film series, on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, does not live up to what it promised, and has not been able to recreate what the union of "friends" did

For the next magic I will need some volunteers who want to get bored in front of the TV, nerds and outsiders - please lower your hand.

"It does not feel like we deserve a union," Rupert Grint (Ron) honestly tells Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Emma Watson (Hermione), as the three of them sit in what was supposed to be the union's summit meeting.

"I do not feel that enough time has passed," which pretty much sums up the lack of justification and the sense of lack of experience that will come later in the reunion episode of the "Harry Potter" series.

"Harry Potter: The Union Special", which is intended to promote HBO Max and which also appeared on yes in Israel this week, tries to bring fans of the series back to the world created by Jay.

K..

Rowling, who made them pounce on bookstores while people talked about the "death of reading."

Rowling made hundreds of millions realize the power of writing - and the not-quite-uniform film series at its level only made the phenomenon a dizzying success.

The opening promises: Mysterious invitations find the special stars in real life - in the taxi, cafe and library, the train locomotive is waiting to take them to Hogwarts from platform 9 and three quarters - and take them wherever the magic happens.

The personal encounters of the actors of the series who have become adults, to say the least, do not really reach any peak.

What determines which series is eligible for a festive reunion?

Number of films produced?

How many years have passed?

After watching the Union special, you will find that the answer is - if thirst is there.

On the face of it, 20 years since "The Wise Stone" and eight Harry Potter films, we've reached a milestone that could justify a festive event, but compared to that franchise's special union for "Friends" - the business needs some good potions to recreate the magic. In the "Friends" union special, hundreds of millions of fans of the series came with a longing for the friends themselves, with a great desire to find out where they are today. Bethles, here it's less an exciting reunion and more a behind-the-scenes docu-summary, which travels the timeline and marks a "V" for stories that will only interest fans of the series.

Warner Studios brought the actors and some of the directors to the invested sets of the films, sprinkled fairy powder, played the wonderful music - but all this only produces a greater gap between the set and the content. "Harry Potter: Union Special" provides no moment to write about, no secret or story is really exciting, and no rabbit is pulled out of any hat. The actors interview the directors, the directors themselves, and it all comes down to how happy they are to have been a part of the work (Surprise, Surprise) and become one big family.

What does not seem to work in the cycle meeting of the world that Jay built. K.. Rowling is the transformation of two of the stars of the series into not-quite-charismatic adults. But if we were already dressed for the event and still need to get excited about something, or at least be interested - the only character holding a room at the summit meeting of the trio of actors is Emma Watson. While Watson is naturally moving, Radcliffe and especially Grint are busy boring her to death and leaving the conversation on the empty level of pleasure and the right to be a part of the piece - which perhaps explains the death of their careers.

And what about the J.

K..

Rolling in the room?

After being caught up in a host of transphobic remarks, Hogwarts decided not to send her a magical invitation to reunite, amid reports that she herself refused to take part, so what remains of the most fascinating character to get to know such a meeting up close are her past interviews here and there.

If you are not a die-hard fan of the series, but average viewers who like nostalgia, like me - take an hour and 40 and see the wonderful "Stone of Sages" again.

This special will only get you out of it.
