Pa: pressing for smart working, but Brunetta says no

Unions demand agile work. Controversy between M5s and Fi (ANSA)

The virus is running and the unions are once again asking for

greater use of smart working for the Public Administration

.

A request that also comes from some exponents of the 5 Star Movement but which is not accepted by the Minister of Public Administration Renato Brunetta, who was a firm believer in returning to work in the presence.

"The current legislation and rules - states the Department of Public Administration in an official note -

already allow ample flexibility to organize both attendance

and remote work, both in public and private work". But the issue divides politics and heats up the controversy between Forza Italia, deployed alongside the minister, and the Movement led by Giuseppe Conte. "Speechless for the attacks on Brunetta", they say from Forza Italia. "Dismayed by the reaction", they retort from M5s.

The demand for a return to agile work has been put on the table by the unions for a few days already, together with the growth of infections. Also because there are now shared rules that could be applied. "This is obviously a temporary solution, which has already been successfully tested and can be proposed again today with the necessary improvements - says the secretary of the Uil Public Administration, Sandro Colombi - Unlike in the past (March 2020) today the administrations have regulatory and contractual tools available much more effective to manage the organization of remote work with flexibility and intelligence ". The request is addressed to the various administrations: take action in this sense soon.

The response of the Department for the Public Administration is however firm. "The line followed so far by the Government - it is explained - thanks to vaccinations, the green pass and the super green pass, has made the maximum level of openness of economic, social and cultural activities fully compatible with the highest level of health security". The call of "everyone at home" is therefore defined as "incomprehensible" because the context is different from that of the generalized lockdown. Furthermore, "public administrations can decide on staff rotation, allowing agile work up to 49% on the basis of a monthly schedule, or longer".

The request for a return to smart working was also made by the M5s according to which "Brunetta is wrong in reducing agile work to the bone" which "has proved to be a very useful tool to avoid paralysis in the country".

This position is contested by a barrage of press releases from Forza Italia deputies who say "no to everyone at home" and who find a rejoinder from the deputies of the Chamber's Constitutional Affairs Commission who say they are "dismayed" and invite the Minister "to act promptly , without conditioning linked to ideological foreclosures ".
