(ANSA) - ROME, JANUARY 03 - 'Emily in Paris', the popular Netflix series whose second season has just been released, again under attack for its representation of reality steeped in stereotypes and clichés. This time it is Ukraine that has officially protested for the character of Petra, a woman from Kiev who drags the protagonist, played by LilyCollins, to steal clothes and bags in a department store in the French capital. A portrait that the Ukrainian minister of culture, Oleksandr Tkachenko, described as "offensive". Petra, this is the name of the character played by the actress Daria Panchenko, also has little taste in dressing and the terror of being expelled. "A caricatured and offensive image. Is this how Ukrainians are seen abroad?",the minister who sent a letter to Netflix wrote on Telegram.

It is not the first time that the series has been criticized for its representation of different nationalities.

In the first season, portraits of Paris and the French were attacked, described as rude, pessimistic, sloppy, traitors and always wearing a beret.

In the second, in addition to Petra, the character of Alfie strikes a young man from London who works in a bank and spends his free time watching football matches and drinking beer in the pub.

The creator of the show, Darren Star, former author of 'Sex and the city', defended himself by telling the New York Times that he wanted to show the French capital in a "wonderful way that encourages people to fall in love with the city like I did".
