A dream of the future, in numbers: when determining the German single charts, advertising-financed audio and video streams will also be taken into account in the future.
YouTube will also play a role for the first time: in the future, data from free and premium streams will flow into the charts here, GfK Entertainment announced.
The first charts according to the new regulations will appear on Friday.
They will cover the sales period from December 30th, 2021 to January 6th, 2022.
According to information from GfK Entertainment, only physical sales, downloads, radio plays and premium music streams were relevant for determining the most successful songs in Germany.
For Florian Drücke, Chairman of the Board of the Federal Association of the Music Industry (BVMI), Florian Drücke, the fact that advertising-financed offers that are freely accessible to users are now also flowing into the charts: »Music is heard through all available media and on all channels, and players also play advertising-financed and thus free offers for fans play a role. «The German charts are compiled by GfK on behalf of BVMI.
