(ANSA) - ROME, JANUARY 04 - Spain has exceeded the level of employment prior to the pandemic, with an increase in jobs that had not been seen since 2005. This is revealed by the latest data supplied by the ministries of Labor and Social Security, reported by El Pais.
In 2021, 776,478 new jobs were created, there were 574,000 new members of Social Security and 140,000 fewer unemployed than before the impact of the virus.
A variable, that of the pandemic which, at least according to Spanish data, has not penalized the labor market, thanks, the authors of the report observe, to the lifting of restrictions, the advancement of vaccinations and the improvement of consumption thanks to the release of savings accumulated by families.
Factors that have allowed a complete recovery of employment and social security income at a speed unthinkable in previous recessions: in February 2020, the last month before the economic impact of Covid-19, there were 19,250,299 members of the pension and 3,246,047 unemployed.
Today there are 19,824,911 registered, a record, and 3,105,905 unemployed. A sign that the tools put into play have been able to counter the shock of the pandemic. (HANDLE).
