Canada has announced an agreement in principle worth 40 billion Canadian dollars (about 28 billion euros) to reform its childcare system and compensate indigenous families who have been discriminated against over the years by this policy. Minister of Indigenous Services, Patty Hajdu.
This is the largest agreement ever reached in the country, commented a government official.
Half of the sum will be used to compensate indigenous children who have been removed from their families and placed in state care, while the other half will go to reform the childcare system.
