In Hesse, the Frankfurt Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating a former primary school director from Hersfeld-Rotenburg.
The 46-year-old is suspected of having abused children and of having produced child pornography and distributed it on the Internet, as reported by "Osthessen News".
The man has been in custody since mid-December, a spokesman for the attorney general said on Wednesday.
The investigation is still at an early stage.
Whether there had been acts of abuse in his previous role as director of a primary school was part of the investigation.
