MOSCOW, 05 JAN - The president of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has promised a "tough" response to the unrest in the country. (HANDLE)


(ANSA-AFP) - MOSCOW, 05 JAN - The president of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has promised a "hard" response to the ongoing riots in the country.


   "As president, I am obliged to protect the security and peace of our citizens, to concern myself with the integrity of Kazakhstan," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking in Russian on Kazakh television and adding that he intends "to act as hard as possible".
