At the end of the week, the play "Vanya", a modern adaptation of Chekhov that takes place during the corona will take place in the chamber • Yuval Segal, who plays in the play, moves between the stage and rehearsals for "Dancing with the Stars" •

What is the connection between Chekhov and Corona?

With me Tiran.

The actor and director has created a topical adaptation of Chekhov's play "Uncle Vanya", whose plot revolves around a group of people who due to a global epidemic are forced to gather together in a failed boutique hotel empty of guests, somewhere in the rural periphery.

The dynamic created between the guests is a bubbling pressure cooker.

The play "Vania", directed by Tiran, will be staged this weekend at the Cameri Theater, and will feature Dror Keren, Yuval Segal, Anastasia Payne, Kinneret Limoni, Rami Baruch / Eli Gorenstein, and Miriam Zohar / Helena Yarlova.

"This is a very up-to-date adaptation of Chekhov's classics," says Yuval Segal.

"I play Astrov, who in Chekhov's play is an alcoholic, but here he is after rehab. He has a terrible loneliness, which characterizes many of Chekhov's characters, and he comes to the hotel to be in human company. He has a sad history as a doctor and a desire "Great for love. However, everything related to the heart and emotions scares him very much."

Right now, when there's a new wave of Corona, do you think viewers will want to watch a show that deals with the plague?

"I think once the theater, or anything artistic, reflects something of life - they make you as an audience connect. It's true that sometimes it's fun to come to escapism, but topical works are important too. It's not a play about Corona but about relationships, loneliness, little people with "Small dreams - which for them are big. The so-called, troubles of the rich of the poor."

These days Segal is playing in another play at the Cameri Theater, "The God of Carnage," centered on two pairs of seemingly enlightened parents who meet to resolve a brawl that occurred between their children, but the evening develops in unexpected directions.

Alongside him in the play are Ola Schur Selector, Ohad Shachar, and also his television partner, Keren Moore.

"Just being a liar in the environment is good for me," Segal laughs, And the question of how hypocritical we are or how much we need to train ourselves for this hypocrisy in order to live a civilized life. "

At the same time, when he is not on stage, he is in intensive rehearsals for the new season of "Dancing with the Stars", which will soon air on Rainbow 12. The program, which was originally broadcast between 2005 and 2012 on Network 13, is being revived by the rival franchisee. Impressive names, including Adi Ashkenazi, Yael Bar Zohar, Sandy Bar, Eli Ildis and more.

"I'm not a dancer, and dancing is not something I have done in the past," says Segal, "for me it is much harder than playing. It tears me out of shape, intense training. Very tough."
