The Austrian wine industry sells a little less to wine lovers in the country and it's a shame. Really great things are happening there. In the current section, eight wines from three wineries, all from the Weinwirtel region, in northeastern Austria. Four of them were Mika Pfaffl, three from the Durnberg winery and one from Reuman. The most classic Austrian varieties are Gruner and Letliner and Zweigelt. Both constitute the critical mass in the current tasting, which is very successful.

All the tasting wines belong to the "excess of a hundred" genre. Some of them even provide a surplus of much less than a hundred. Many of them are white with a high fruity and aromatic profile, with a surprising degree of minerality relative to low-priced wines. The two reds show a relatively light body, almost thin, with a tendency for intense seasoning.

Papal is a very large winery and the wines it provides are varied in style but you can not go wrong with their obvious varietals.

Dornberg Boutique Winery, characterized and more homogeneous in its style.

All wines provide value for money for good to excellent.

Most of them are very suitable for the Israeli winter.

The two reds are also great for the Israeli summer, because of the certain lightness and the high seasoning factor.

It is more worthwhile to get acquainted with these wines and it will be very happy if importers bring more of the worthy of the Austrian wines.

Without a few words about astringency it is impossible:

"Gemishter Zatz" is a vineyard where various varieties are planted that are fortified as a blend. The current wine is based on vineyards in the Bisamberg area, which are covered most of the time. Bottling with minimum exposure to oxygen. Golden color. In the nose white fruit, citrus, herbs. Medium body. 12% alcohol by volume.

What the reviewer said: The

nose is semi-dry white, the residual sugar level in this wine is low (4.5 grams per liter). The blend of varieties, all grown in the same vineyard, is a type of country wine, rustic folk, in the style of the Austrian testimony. This basic simplicity provides really excellent qualities relative to the moderately hitting pricing of the wine. Good fruit, good acidity, clear aromaticity, good balance and even a degree of sharpness. What else can we ask for in Maine for NIS 65? The truth that nothing.
