The future of Caddy's 142 employees is uncertain.
The Alsatian manufacturer of trolleys has been in insolvency since December 31, 2021, the third time in less than ten years.
"Caddy fed me for 38 years" laments Corinne Strohm, 59-year-old employee who hopes to retire in the company.
"I am sad that we have gone as far as receivership, she adds, but I am sure that we will get there".
The leaders have until February 22 to find a buyer and ensure the maintenance of jobs.
"We are pressed for time because the company needs cash to continue, so it is important that the process be fast," said Stéphane Dedieu, president of Caddy since 2014. For his part, reassured that the wages for December will finally be paid, Luc Strohmenger, CFTC secretary of the Social and Economic Committee (CSE), wants priority to be given to "maintaining employment" on the now only production site in Dettwiller (Bas-Rhin).
Invented in 1928 by the Joseph brothers in Alsace, the steel cart was baptized "Caddy" in 1957. The company will remain under the control of family members until 2014, two years after its first receivership.
