The consumer advice center warns Volksbank customers against attempted fraud.
With the help of e-mails, the recipient's bank accounts are supposed to be plundered.
Düsseldorf - In addition to its many advantages, the Internet also harbors dangers.
According to the Federal Criminal Police Office, Internet crime is increasing significantly.
This also includes so-called phishing emails.
These are fake emails designed to trick the recipient into falling for a scam.
Warning of phishing emails: Volksbank affected
Volksbank is also not spared from such emails and, according to the consumer advice center, will remain a main target of phishing in 2022.
Phishing emails with the subject line “Your online login pin has just been changed” were reported to the consumer center.
In these e-mails, Volksbank customers are informed that the access data for online banking has been reset.
In order to prevent financial damage, recipients are then requested to re-enter their data via a linked website.
The consumer advice center also warns against e-mails with the subject "Message: Problem with your account".
Fraud on the Internet: Volksbank customers affected by phishing emails
Even if the emails look deceptively real with letterhead, direct salutation and no spelling or grammatical errors, caution is advised.
Because: "Neither the Volksbank nor any other bank will request sensitive customer data via email," explains the portal.
