Spring cleaning is a chore every year.
With this checklist, however, your work will be child's play.
Why are we doing spring cleaning at all?
Thorough cleaning of the home at the beginning of the year follows a long
tradition
.
Spring cleaning goes back to the time when
farmers
often didn't have time during the year to thoroughly clean their house and yard.
Even today, many people still take time in spring to clear out and clean properly.
So that the upcoming housework is easier, fun and you don't forget anything when cleaning your four walls, you can follow this checklist and tick off the completed points one by one.
Within a few days you can start the spring relaxed.

When do you start spring cleaning?
First of all, it should be said: there is no perfect or exact time to start spring cleaning.
Spring cleaning traditionally starts in March
- just like spring officially
.
But in the end it is up to you when you want to start the spring cleaning.
For example, it can also be a New Year's resolution that you
want to carry out in
January .
To start a new year without any legacy.
Think about when you can devote a few days in a row to the thorough cleaning of your house or apartment and plan which activity should be carried out when.
Checklist: This is what you need for spring cleaning
To be perfectly equipped for housework, you should have some cleaning utensils on hand:
rubber gloves
Cleaning rags, microfiber cloths, sponges
Broom, hand brush and dustpan
bucket
Cleaning agents or household remedies such as vinegar or vinegar essence, oven spray, glass cleaner, washing-up liquid, etc.
Dusters
Floor wiper

Spring cleaning: Reach your goal step by step with the checklist
Of course you can try to do the
spring cleaning
on a weekend.
But if you prefer to carry out this work
step by step
and therefore all the more thoroughly, the cleaning work can be divided up.
Every day you dedicate yourself to a different place or other room in the apartment - for
seven days
.
Step 1 of the spring cleaning: clean up the apartment
You can only clean if there is nothing lying around on the floor or on the surfaces of the furniture.
You should therefore carefully put away everything that you do not use regularly or that get in the way of cleaning.
This includes, for example, magazines, decorative elements, old children's toys, DVDs and household items.
Take the opportunity to
clear out
and dispose of things that you no longer need.

Step 2: Clean the windows - for a clear view when spring approaches
Cleaning windows - this is an issue that most people would like to avoid, as it is the most stressful and takes up a lot of time. It actually works in no time at all: First, the panes are soaped inside and out with a microfiber cloth so that the coarse dirt doesn't stand a chance.
You can then peel off the windows and wipe them dry.
Then it goes to the actual cleaning work: Mix
water with a little washing-up liquid and white spirit
and wipe the windows with a cleaning rag.
Then the windows are removed again and wiped dry with kitchen paper.
Right in time for spring, you already have a full perspective again.
Tip
:
You can also use
window cleaning
to finally
wash the
curtains
again , because that is also part of spring cleaning.
Spring cleaning - step 3: dust and vacuum
Day 3 of spring cleaning can be used extensively on
dusting
and
vacuuming
. If the apartment is not freed from the coarse layer of dust that collects on shelves and other surfaces, all the cleaning work is of no use - because the dust is spread over the freshly cleaned areas in no time at all. When dusting, always clean
from top to bottom
, clean dust catchers such as bookshelves and decorative elements and plants should not be spared from thorough cleaning. Make sure that you always wipe with a damp cloth - this way the dust will stick to the cloth and will not simply collect elsewhere.
The
vacuum cleaner
should also be used for spring cleaning.
If necessary, move furniture to vacuum thoroughly under the bed or behind the sofa.
Within a year, a lot of dust can accumulate in places that are difficult to reach in everyday life.

Step 4 of the big spring cleaning: clean the bedroom
From the fourth day on, it will be time to take specific care of the rooms. The order doesn't matter - start with the bedroom, for example. First of all, superficial dirt on the collar:
remove
cobwebs
, dust off the
radiators
and
clean the
door
and
door frame
. Only then should you change the
bed linen
. If necessary, clean the
mattress
.
tip
: It is advisable to wash the duvet and pillow (not the covers) until the season changes, when the temperatures are a little warmer.
Because blankets and pillows need time to dry.
Therefore it should be warmer outside so that you can switch to the spring or summer bedding.
However, you can also wash
the
duvet covers for pillows and blankets in the
washing machine
during spring cleaning .
Something that is often forgotten, but the source of a chaotic room: the
wardrobe
.
Just clear it out,
sort out clothes
that you no longer wear and wipe the individual compartments with a damp cloth.
As soon as everything is dry, the clothes are put back neatly.

Spring cleaning step 5: This is the best way to clean your living room and dining room
There are also some construction sites in the living and dining area that you should devote yourself to as part of the spring cleaning: The
upholstery of the sofa and armchair
needs to be cleaned, the
sofa
cushions need to be washed and the
lamps
cleaned. You should also wipe all
tables
and
chairs with a
damp cloth and clear out all
shelves
and
cupboards
. As with the wardrobe, you can free the inner workings of everything that has accumulated there in the last few months and then fill it up again with your household appliances and objects. Also, don't forget to put the
floors in all rooms
Vacuum clean properly and wipe
with a damp cloth, i.e. not too wet
.
Step 6 of spring cleaning: Thoroughly clean the bathroom
A hygienic
bathroom
is the be-all and end-all: therefore, take
enough time to clean the
sink
,
toilet
and
bathtub
or
shower during spring cleaning.
For example, use a light abrasive cleanser.
You can also dedicate yourself to the yellowed and discolored
joints
in your bathroom as part of the spring cleaning.
A lot can be done with the help of candle wax, steam cleaners or baking powder.

Step 7: Completely clean the kitchen for spring cleaning
In the
kitchen
, too, hygiene is the top priority - after all, this is where food is prepared.
So you need to be extra thorough here.
After you have freed all surfaces from dust and dirt, it goes to individual "trouble spots":
stove
oven
microwave
Kitchenette
deduction
Kitchen cabinets
fridge
Household appliances (e.g. coffee machine)
Remember that you can clean individual parts such as glass plates or plastic parts from the refrigerator, microwave, etc. in the dishwasher.
In addition, the kitchen is so important that you should of course
not only carry out such cleaning activities once a year
.
When you have completed all of these steps, your home should be ready for spring - and at the same time, you will feel much more comfortable in your clean home.
