After more than a year of waiting, season 2 of
Emily in Paris
has been available on Netflix since December 22.
The French clichés are still not missing and are once again provoking reactions on social networks.
If the image of France is paying the price for the series produced by Netflix, Ukraine has also felt targeted this time.

In episode 4, the heroine, Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, attends a French class where she meets Petra, played by Daria Panchenko, a young woman from Kiev. Later in the episode, during a shopping spree in a department store, the Ukrainian decides to steal some clothes. She then refuses to return them when Emily, shocked by her behavior; suggests it to him. This passage provoked the ire of Ukrainian viewers. On the networks, we can read: “The series presents a Ukrainian as an idiot, without any taste, who likes to steal clothes from stores. Her name is Petra (a name that doesn't even exist with us). Here is a product of the United States, a country which fights for tolerance, for a new ethic ”,writes for example Anastassia Tchervoniy on her Facebook wall.

A political affair
The excitement on the network is such that the Minister of Culture, Oleksandr Tkatchenko, has cracked an official intervention.
“This cartoonish character is not acceptable and offensive,” he said.
The politician further wrote a letter to the Netflix company asking for an explanation.

, are amused by this initiative deemed "hypocritical".
In a column published on the media's website, journalist Oleksii Bratushchak is ironic about the fact that "in the 1990s, Ukrainians were presented as thieves in the cinema".
However, the Ukrainian state continues to invest millions of euros in this industry, and therefore contributes, according to it, to the maintenance of the stereotype of the gangster.
