A 44-year-old woman from Upper Franconia donated tens of thousands of euros to a supposed pop star for a joint music project.
The woman fell for the fraudster on the TikTok video platform.
It was a new scam of so-called scammers who steal money with invented stories, said the Upper Franconian police headquarters on Wednesday in Bayreuth about the case.
Money can also be handed over in cash
The fraudster contacted the woman from the Kulmbach district on TikTok in November.
He pretended to be a prominent pop star, ensnared his later victim and flirted with him.
He promised the woman that he would want to produce a music album with her and other stars - but he lacks the money for this project.
After several weeks of communication, the woman transferred several thousand euros to the alleged singer.
Finally, on December 17, she handed over tens of thousands of euros to a cash collector at the Bayreuth train station for another alleged music project.
Only then did the 44-year-old realize that she was a victim of fraud.
