The price of gasoline and diesel is rising again.
Berlin / Kassel - New Year, new rules: From 2022, among other things, motorists will have to dig deeper into their pockets at petrol stations, because the CO2 tax will be increased again.
The adjustment is ultimately particularly noticeable in the fuel prices.
Instead of 25 euros per ton of carbon dioxide emitted, 30 euros are now due, reports the business and finance newspaper Handelsblatt.de.
This should generally contribute to reducing CO2 emissions and thus also to climate protection.
The tax is also part of the federal government's climate protection program.
Other tax rules will also be changed from 2022 *.
The price of petrol and diesel will rise: the CO2 tax will rise again from 2022
The adjustment of the tax on petrol, diesel, heating oil and gas will have a direct impact on fuel prices, among other things.
According to ADAC calculations, this is likely to increase by around one and a half cents for both diesel and petrol.

Compared to the beginning of 2021, however, this increase is not as strong: At that time, the price of 25 euros per ton was around seven cents more expensive.
To compensate, the commuter allowance was increased to 35 cents in order not to disadvantage people who are dependent on the car for work-related reasons.
In addition, the traffic light government has announced further traffic plans *: Motorists can therefore prepare for some new regulations.

In order to make renewable energies more attractive at the same time, the surcharge for financing green electricity, the so-called EEG surcharge, fell to around 3.7 cents per kilowatt hour at the turn of the year.
That corresponds to a minus of more than 40 percent.
With the help of regular increases in the price of CO2, climate change is to be slowed down bit by bit.
Likewise, the tax adjustment is intended to counteract the negative effects of emissions on living conditions for humans and animals.
