Books are experiencing a second youth on the social network, which has more than 1 billion subscribers.

The story begins in the United States in February 2021. A young American tiktoker with half a million subscribers, Aymansbook, publishes on her account a video of her reading the Pocket house novel (Editis),

Le Chant d ' Achille,

by Madeline Miller.

“Here I am starting 'The Song of Achilles'

, she says with a smile in the introduction.

And that's me finishing it »,

she yells in the background, while crying, before throwing the book against her wall.

Within days, the video went viral, surpassing one million views.

Then, the phenomenon is taken up by French tiktokers, who share musical extracts and little humor notes on the book.

In spring 2021, the virtual runaway is reflected in sales: they were multiplied by nine compared to those achieved over the whole of 2020.
