(ANSA) - GENEVA, 06 JAN - Although the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus seems "less severe than Delta, especially among the vaccinated, it does not mean that it should be categorized as mild: like the previous variants, Omicron causes hospitalization and kills".
The director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO) TedrosAdhanom Ghebreyesus said this in Geneva, evoking the increase in cases: a "tsunamid cases so large and rapid that it is overwhelming health care systems" all over the world.
