In Canada, too, the number of infections is skyrocketing, and restrictions are in place again in several provinces.
Among other things, schools are closed and private gatherings are prohibited.
So it is hardly surprising that even Prime Minister Justin Trudeau comments on an incident that has made headlines in the country.
A group of young influencers caused outrage with a party on a flight from Montréal, Canada to Cancun, Mexico - also among the government in Ottawa.
Trudeau compared the revelers to barbarians.
Videos previously published on the online networks showed several young passengers drinking and dancing on the plane without adhering to the corona protection rules.
Trudeau spoke of an "unacceptable" behavior: "If a gang of idiots decides to go on vacation like the Ostrogoths, it is extremely frustrating, demoralizing," he told journalists on Wednesday.
In a statement to the AFP news agency, the Sunwing airline, which organized the flight, assured that a group of passengers on the flight on December 30, 2021, with their "unbridled" behavior violated the hygiene regulations applicable on board.
Several airlines refuse the return transport
The airline then canceled the return flight to Canada.
Several of Sunwing's competitors - including Canada's largest airline Air Canada - announced that they would be banning the influencers participating in the celebration from their flights.
"As far as we can identify the people involved, Air Canada will deny them entry to protect the other passengers and the crew," said the airline.
The people involved are also threatened with a substantial fine.
Breaches of the Department of Transportation's regulations can be fined up to 5,000 Canadian dollars.
