THE QUESTION.
Did the government lack anticipation in its management of the health crisis?
Asked about RTL, presidential candidate Valérie Pécresse pointed out the disarmament of the hospital in the face of successive epidemic waves.
"
On health, we have a massive recruitment problem
," said the president of the Île-de-France region.
“
25,000 caregivers [will] be recruited during the next term specifically for the hospital, trained
”.

To the journalist who recalls that it takes "
between 10 and 15 years to train doctors, resuscitators, anesthetists
", Valérie Pécresse indicated that she considered this estimate "
totally inaccurate.
Training a doctor, yes, it takes between 8 and 10 years.
But training a resuscitator can take a year or two.
We can take doctors who are already hospitalized and qualify them so that they can be in intensive care
”.
And to add that "if
we had wanted to open the thousands of beds necessary to face a pandemic crisis, we could have done it

Would training paramedics and doctors urgently have made it possible to avoid these situations of congestion, as Valérie Pécresse suggests?
Is it even possible?
