Confiscated weapons in Wingst and Geversdorf: pistols, rifles and ammunition
According to their own statements, the police found "huge amounts" of weapons and ammunition in a 61-year-old man and his partner in Lower Saxony and Hamburg.
As investigators in Cuxhaven announced, they came across pistols and rifles, including war weapons, in several objects.
According to this, the officers also found ammunition in "high five-digit numbers" as well as knives, handguns and long weapons, bows and crossbows during the searches lasting several days.
In addition, there were "large amounts of narcotics," as the Cuxhaven police explained without giving any further details.
Several transporters were necessary for the removal.
The searches, in which sniffer dogs were also involved, were said to have taken place on one of the man's larger farms in Geversdorf, Lower Saxony, among other places.
Woman easily injured
According to the police, the man's partner had alerted the emergency call last Tuesday in Wingst in Lower Saxony.
He threatened her, physically attacked her - and was possibly armed.
A major police operation followed, but the man was reportedly arrested without resistance.
The woman was slightly injured.
In her apartment, the officers came across numerous rifles and pistols as well as live grenades.
The public prosecutor's office then obtained search warrants for other properties, including the man's apartment in Hamburg and the property in Geversdorf.
This comprised several buildings and, according to the police, was in such a neglected and dilapidated condition that it had to be secured with the help of the THW before entering.
After the mission, the man was initially admitted to a closed clinic after an official assessment.
He is now in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
His partner is also being investigated because she stored large parts of the weapons in her apartment.
