Depending on the survey, the information on the average salary of Germans fluctuates.

A new study now shows who belongs to the highest income group.

Have you always asked yourself which income class in Germany you belong to? More towards the affluent or rather towards the poorer section of the population? The fact that money and salaries are not discussed in Germany makes it difficult to assess. But there are various surveys that deal with the subject. For example, a current study by the researchers Judith Niehues and Maximilian Stockhausen from the Institute of German Economy (IW).

The two scientists analyzed which groups are among the richest in Germany

. To do this, they took the net income * of 35,000 Germans.

A little surprising result first: Single people without children are among the top ten percent.

But from what income?

Thanks to the study, citizens now have the opportunity to compare their income.

Anyone who earns around 4,000 euros a month belongs to the wealthy class of the population

Do you live with your partner in the same household and have a total net household income (total income for household members) of around 3,000 euros? This amount puts you in the middle of the field: Compared to the general population, 50 percent of the people are richer and 50 percent poorer.

If the net household income is twice as high, i.e. 6,000 euros, only eight percent of Germans are richer.

Are you single and have a monthly income of around 3,000 euros? Only 18 percent of the total population is wealthier in this case.

Other interesting study results that were published in

Wirtschaftswoche (WiWo)

, among others: Couples without children are represented above average in the upper income bracket. 11.4 percent of the top ten percent, i.e. the highest income Germans, are childless couples. Even singles often belong to the richest class of the population.

Single people with a net income of 3,700 euros are already in the top ten percent.

With 4,560 euros, they are among the richest five percent.

In summary, according to the study, the following can be said of

the top ten percent, the average net income per capita is 4,070 euros per month.

The five percent with the highest income have 5,460 euros and the top percent have an average of 12,760 euros a month.
