At least 21 people died after their cars got stuck due to heavy snow and traffic congestion in Murree, a mountain town about 30 kilometers from the capital Islamabad.
"More than 1000 vehicles have been stranded," Pakistani Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said, explaining that people have died inside their cars.
The snowfall started Tuesday night and continued until Friday at regular intervals, attracting thousands of tourists.
Further snowfalls are expected in the next 24 hours.
There are also reports of deaths in Galyat, an area between Murree and the Abbottabad district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
