(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 08 - At least 19 people died after their cars got stuck due to abundant traffic and traffic congestion in Murree, a mountain location about 30 kilometers from the capital Islamabad.
"More than 1000 vehicles were stranded," Pakistani Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said, explaining that people died inside their cars.
The snowfall started on Tuesday night and continued until Friday at regular intervals, attracting thousands of tourists.
Further snowfalls are expected in the next 24 hours.
There are also reports of deaths in Galyat, an area between Murree and the Abbottabad district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The death toll could rise further.
So far, rescuers have failed to clear the road and rescue the stranded people.
