(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 09 JAN - Nineteen people, including nine children, were killed in a fire that broke out in a New York apartment in the Bronx neighborhood.
Dozens of people were injured.
The fire broke out in the home of an old nineteen-story building and then quickly spread throughout the complex called Twin Park.
"It's one of the worst fires in the city's recent history," said the New York fire chief.
The number of injured would be 63, of which at least 32 hospitalized.
Over 200 rescuers on the scene.
Last Sunday the stake in which 12 people died in a building in Philadelphia, including 8 children.
