A group of young people who were on their way on a flight from Montreal, Canada to the resort town of Cancun, Mexico, "spent" a flight on a hire drink, stormy dancing and rioting without any masks against Corona.

They then found themselves stuck in Mexico, after the airline on which they flew, Sunwing Airlines, canceled their return flight, scheduled for January 5, and other airlines refused to fly them.

According to a report on CNN, the group flew to Mexico on December 30, as part of an organized vacation organized by a travel company called 111 Private Club.

In a video that later surfaced on social media, participants are seen drinking and dancing between the aisles of the plane.

The video provoked much public outrage in Canada, and an investigation was opened by the state transportation authorities against the youths.

The passengers themselves are likely to be fined fairly large sums, and possibly even punished more severely.

Trudeau: "This is a slap in the face"

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, announced a few days ago that he was "very frustrated" by the incident. "It's a slap in the face - seeing these passengers endanger themselves, the other passengers and the crew of the plane, and all this - with complete irresponsibility," Trudeau said.

The organizing group said they understand the public outrage that has arisen, and that they are making every effort to get the young people back home.

Sunwing Airlines said its decision to cancel the youngsters' return flight was "based on the group's refusal to accept the conditions, and on the assessment of our security staff that non-compliance with these conditions may be related to their previous behavior on the flight." However, the company said it could not provide specific details, but has a plan on how to return them to Montreal, while ensuring the health and safety of other passengers. Among the conditions: boarding a plane in a state of sobriety, not serving alcohol during the flight and not even serving meals during it.

It was further reported that team members could face fines of C $ 5,000 (approximately US $ 3,900) for each offense.
