(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 09 JAN - The US State Department has authorized non-essential employees of the US consulate in Almaty to leave Kazakhstan, where the riots have resulted in dozens of deaths.

"The department has approved the voluntary departure of non-essential US government employees and family members of all employees" from that consulate, a statement said.
