The actress and jewelry designer Maren Gilzer will run for the mayoral election in Oberkrämer, Brandenburg, in two weeks' time.

She wants to take over power for the FDP in the non-governmental municipality in the Oberhavel district.

Oberkrämer is an amalgamation of seven villages with a total of 12,000 inhabitants.

The TV celebrities have to do with six rivals, the political spectrum ranges from individual applicants to an SPD candidate and the voter group "Citizens for Oberkrämer" to the local AfD boss.

The 61-year-old became known in the nineties as the “letter fairy” on the Sat.1 program “Wheel of Fortune” and then played the role of the nurse Yvonne in the ARD series “In aller Freundes” for 16 years.

In 2015 she was voted the “Jungle Queen” by viewers of the RTL reality show “I am a star - get me out of here”.

“The previous mayor is retiring, I was asked if I would like to.

And I have, ”Gilzer told the Bild newspaper in the fall.

She has been a member of the FDP since 2017.

She had previously met party leader Christian Lindner personally and was probably impressed: "He just convinced me."

Better bus and train connections

“As mayor, I would just want to take it literally, say: Come to me and say, what's the problem?

Then I would see if I can do something in my office or is the district or the state responsible for it, "said the candidate.

As a moderator, she also knows how to moderate different opinions.

"And I listen to what moves people."

In terms of content, she drives, among other things, the traffic turnaround.

She wanted better bus and train connections as well as more charging stations for electric cars and e-bikes, Gilzer said in the interview.

But more gastronomy, faster internet and a secondary school are also on their agenda.

"It will not be easy for Maren Gilzer, because the incumbent, who is about to retire, is part of a strong voter initiative that is running again," says the Berliner Zeitung.

The actress believes that this is exactly her strength: »Nobody can accuse me of being clumsy.

A fresh wind blows more from the outside. "

The wheel of fortune ran in Germany with interruptions from 1988 to 2018 on Sat.1, Kabel eins, 9Live and RTLplus.

The American original "Wheel of Fortune" has been around since the early 1970s, it still has a fixed slot on television and continues to achieve good audience ratings.
