Studies show: Corona vaccine does not harm fertility Israel today

2022-01-09T15:45:00.293Z

A researcher from Shaare Zedek Medical Center examined studies from around the world regarding the effect of the vaccine on the reproductive system - and found that it is not harmed

A super-study, which examines studies conducted around the world following the corona vaccine, states that the vaccine against the virus does not harm fertility - neither in women nor in men.

The researcher, Professor Talia Eldar-Geva from Shaare Zedek Medical Center, noted that at this stage no scientific publication has been found that presented contradictory data.

One of the main complaints heard about the vaccine is about a disruption in the menstrual cycle.

However, according to the study, no statistical deviation was found in this area among the vaccinated, neither among the subjects in targeted studies nor among the general public.

Prof. Elder-Geva noted that menstruation and menstruation are affected by many factors, including hormonal changes, taking medication and physical or mental stress.

A U.S. study found that during the corona period, even before the vaccine was given, 54 percent of the women who participated reported menstrual changes, and another study found that between 16 and 25 percent of women infected with the virus reported transient or continuous menstrual changes.

The researcher noted that by October, the Ministry of Health had received about 1,300 reports from women of a menstrual disorder in the vicinity of the first vaccine dose, ie less than one-tenth of one percent of the two million vaccinated women of childbearing age.

After the second vaccination, about 2,000 similar reports were received out of about one million vaccinated - that is, 0.2 percent.

It should be noted that these changes were almost always short-term, and did not differ from the rate of reports after other vaccines such as against papilloma or influenza, or from the rate of reports among the general population.

65 of the experimenters became pregnant unplanned

In addition, Prof. Eldar-Geva compiled data regarding fertility and harm to pregnancy, and even in these studies, no such harm was found.

According to the published super-study, in the initial research stages of the vaccine, women were asked not to become pregnant, but nevertheless 65 of the experimenters who received the vaccine became pregnant unplanned - the same figure for the study group.

In addition, no impairment was found in the fertility treatments of women who needed them, and no differences were found in the number and quality of eggs, fertilization rates, fetal quality, and pregnancy rates in these women.

Another study found that AMH levels, in the ovarian reserve - which is the most important factor in a woman's fertility - did not change after receiving both vaccines.

Finally it was also found that the vaccine did not impair sperm quality in men.
