Spanish police announced on Sunday January 9 that they had dismantled a criminal organization behind drug trafficking between southern Spain and France.
The traffickers used helicopters to transport hashish and marijuana from Morocco to Spain.
Thanks to trucks and cars with fake license plates, they then fed France.
"The drugs were transported by French citizens in cars traveling at high speed and by large trucks that appeared to carry legal cargo," said Spanish police spokesman Guillermo Alonso.
Operation "COPA-SUCRE" led by the Guardia Civil, the French anti-narcotics agency and EUROPOL made it possible to arrest 11 people.
Nine others are still wanted in France by European arrest warrant.
The investigation which began in 2020 led to the seizure of 2.4 tonnes of hashish and 112 kilograms of marijuana, according to a statement from the Guardia Civil.
Four helicopters, trucks, cars and four weapons were also confiscated.
