Nausea is one of the first signs of pregnancy. In fact, almost all pregnant women suffer from nausea with varying degrees of severity. For most of them, the nausea appears mild and they do not significantly affect their daily routine. Many women are able to go through the period of nausea without the need for medical intervention. At the same time, there are cases where the nausea is severe and the women suffering from the phenomenon are unable to continue to lead their lives as usual. As a result of the nausea, those women are unable to function and in exceptional cases even need medical treatment and hospitalization.

Why do women suffer from nausea in pregnancy?

Nausea will most often appear with the onset of pregnancy and subside towards the end of the first trimester (around weeks 13-14).

The world of science and medicine has not yet been able to pinpoint the exact reasons for the onset of nausea, but studies link the sharp rise in hormones secreted by placental development into the bloodstream to nausea.

These hormones probably cause irritation of the vomiting centers in the brain.

As proof of this we witness seven pregnancies as twins as twins, the phenomenon of nausea in pregnancy appears more powerful compared to the pregnancy of a single fetus.

What can be done to relieve nausea?

Regular follow-up allows for early detection of health problems that may arise during pregnancy.

Follow-up during pregnancy is important for both the pregnant woman and the fetus, so it is customary to start it early - starting from the seventh week of pregnancy.

Part of the follow-up includes nutrition assessment, examination of the degree of vomiting, review of background diseases and other factors.

Assuming the pregnancy is normal, every woman should be attentive to her body.

In cases of more than four to five vomiting a day and when there is a risk of dehydration - it is recommended to seek medical attention.

There are many tips on how to alleviate the annoying nausea phenomenon - from eating small meals during the day, through scheduling carbohydrate intake in the morning to avoiding or reducing eating fried and high-fat foods and spices. In addition there are women who claim that a piece of lemon or a slice of ginger can relieve nausea. It is highly recommended for any pregnant woman to experiment and find the things that help her deal with the phenomenon.

When should you consult a doctor?

The severity of nausea in pregnancy varies from woman to woman, and endurance and the ability to maintain a routine under nausea are also individual.

It is important to be attentive to the body and the ability to continue to conduct oneself in the face of pregnancy development.

However, when the nausea is accompanied by more than four to five vomiting a day and in cases where a woman is unable to drink enough and there is a risk of dehydration - one should go to be tested and receive treatment.

If necessary, the pregnant woman will be treated by infusion of fluids with salts to treat dehydration and balance the deficiencies created by vomiting.

In very exceptional and particularly severe cases, other nutritional deficiencies are also returned through the vein.

How can it be treated?

In cases where a pregnant woman suffers from discomfort due to the nausea and vomiting that accompanies her pregnancy, there are a number of treatment lines: First, a change in eating habits may create a definite significant change and alleviate the phenomenon.

Second, there are a number of pharmacological treatments that help deal with nausea in pregnancy.

There are preparations that are given without any connection to pregnancy like pramin and soprano, and in contrast there are dedicated pregnancy treatments that are given in a pill like the well-known treatment Diclectin which has been known for years to be safe for use in pregnancy with almost no side effects.

Even a slice of lemon or ginger can help with nausea.

Recently, the treatment Diclectin has undergone a facelift and now the treatment - Bonjesta - can be found in its place on the shelves in pharmacies.

In fact it is a preparation that uses the same pharmacological ingredients as diclectin so despite being new, we are quiet about its safety in pregnancy.

The only change is in the method of releasing the active ingredient.

Now the treatment is structured so that the substance released while taking the pill will provide immediate relief for dealing with the nausea, and will slowly continue to disperse so that its effect will be for a longer period of time.

In fact, the new treatment allows for relief of nausea throughout most of the day and night.
