An 18-year-old was taken into custody in the Bavarian district of Bayreuth.
The man is under urgent suspicion of stabbing a couple in Mistelbach on Sunday, the police and public prosecutor in Bayreuth announced on Monday.
Initial findings indicate that the suspect is the friend of the couple's oldest daughter.
He spent the night in the family home.
Neighbors heard calls for help
Residents had alerted the police shortly after midnight on Sunday morning after hearing calls for help on the neighboring property.
Officials found the bodies of a 47-year-old woman and her 51-year-old husband in the basement of the family home.
Both had stab wounds.
"Why there was such an outbreak of violence is still the subject of criminal investigation," it said.
The suspect turned himself in to the police
The couple's four underage children were in different rooms of the house at the time of the crime.
Officials of the criminal police, the emergency pastoral care and the youth welfare office took care of their care.
The alleged perpetrator initially fled, the police were looking for him with a large contingent.
A few hours after the crime, the young man turned himself in in the Bayreuth city area and was arrested without resistance.
On Monday he was brought before an investigating judge who issued an arrest warrant against him.
