More than 27 years after the discovery of human bones in a forest near Bonn, the dead person was identified.
As the Bonn police announced, it is a man from the Rhein-Sieg district who was last living alone and who was last seen alive in February 1990 at the age of 25.
The unmarried Ernst K. was reported missing at the time and should have moved in the drug milieu.
On May 23, 1994, students found bones in a forest in Ruppichteroth-Beiert near Bonn.
According to the police, forensic medical examinations revealed clear indications of an unnatural cause of death.
A homicide squad took over the investigation and found that the victim was still alive in October 1992.
Initially, the investigators assumed that it was the body of a woman between the ages of 20 and 30.
However, the identity of the dead person could not be clarified.
"File number XY .. unsolved" brought important information
Movement in the so-called cold case therefore only returned when the case was dealt with in the ZDF program "Aktenzeichen XY..unelöst" last year.
After the broadcast, 65 clues were received by the Bonn homicide squad, ten of which triggered further intensive investigations.
New forensic investigation options would ultimately have led to the realization that the victim, contrary to the original assumption, was a man.
The police asked possible witnesses who had contact with K. between 1990 and the discovery of the bones in 1994 for assistance.
