A second child died after an accident with a bouncy castle in Spain.

A four-year-old girl died of his injuries in the hospital, the authorities said on Monday.

The bouncy castle was hit by a gust of wind on Tuesday last week at a Christmas market in Mislata near Valencia and thrown into the air.

An eight-year-old girl died the day after the accident and seven other children were injured.

"We regret the death of the second girl who was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after the accident," said Mislata City Council.

Mayor Carlos Bielsa said on Twitter that the girl succumbed to his injuries despite "exceptional efforts" by hospital staff.

Wind speeds of more than 70 kilometers per hour

According to media reports, wind speeds of more than 70 kilometers per hour prevailed at the time of the accident.

The police have started investigations into possible violations of security regulations.

In December, six children were killed in a similar accident on the Australian island of Tasmania.

A gust of wind hit an inflatable bouncy castle at a school festival and, according to eyewitnesses, threw it ten meters high into the air.
