In video, an excerpt from "L'Événement", by Audrey Diwan

Adapting Annie Ernaux, Audrey Diwan traces the journey of Anne, a young woman who unwittingly fell pregnant in conservative France in 1963. Abortion was then illegal and women had no other recourse than the clandestine route (and often fatal) to remedy this pregnancy which can destroy any professional and social future.

Physically trying, unadorned and carried by the deep gaze of the revelation Anamaria Vartolomei, the film leaves an indelible mark in the minds of the spectators.

Unmissable and above all rare.

The performance of the film

L'Événement

will be hosted by journalist Maryline Letertre from

Madame Figaro

on January 12 at UGC Ciné Cité Les Halles, in Paris.

UGC Les Incontournables, from January 12 to 18, 2022.
