At the beginning of the pandemic, there was hardly any statistical data on the infection situation in schools.
However, since the end of the second Corona year, the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK) has been presenting figures on a regular basis: At around 870 schools (almost five percent), there were restrictions on attendance shortly before Christmas (previous week: 1400).
Ten facilities were closed (previous week: 38).
That comes from the weekly corona statistics of the KMK.
In addition, around 50,000 corona cases were known among schoolchildren in Germany at this time.
80,000 students were therefore also in quarantine.
The numbers are only comparable to a limited extent with those of the previous week in December, when 86,000 corona cases and 111,000 quarantine cases were reported, as this time there was no more feedback from some federal states because holidays had already started.
The statistics are based on reports from around 23,000 schools with around eight million pupils.
Otherwise, around 28,000 schools with 10 million pupils are taken into account in the weekly evaluation.
