(ANSA) - BEIJING, 11 JAN - Five and a half million residents of the city of Anyang, in the province of Henan, today started the home confinement among the anti-Covid measures decided by the local authorities after the confirmation of 84 cases since Saturday, of which at least two of the dreaded Omicron variant (one is linked to the Tianjin outbreak) and 58 ascertained from Monday midnight at 8am.
The Anyang blockade brings the total number of residents in China after Xi'an (13 million inhabitants) and (Yuzhoucon 1.1 million) to 20 million in China.
There are also severe restrictions in Tianjin, Omicron's first internal outbreak.
