DER SPIEGEL turns 75: War and crime as everyday work

2022-01-11T06:33:51.799Z

Would you like to know how SPIEGEL journalists work? Christoph Reuter, reporter in crisis countries like Afghanistan, and investigative reporter Jörg Diehl answer your questions - on January 11th at 6 p.m.

On January 11, 2022 at 6 p.m. via Zoom!

You can register here (until January 11, 2022, 5 p.m.).

The event is exclusive to our subscribers.

If you want to send in your questions in advance, you can do so here (until January 11, 2022, 5:30 p.m.).

When the West withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021 and left the country to chaos, SPIEGEL reporter Christoph Reuter was there and reported almost daily on the horror that people in the country experienced - fear, despair, hunger and terror.

Jörg Diehl, head of the Germany / Panorama department and investigative reporter, published together with colleagues in December shocking research on child abuse in Germany and the failure of the responsible authorities.

He also regularly reports on organized crime, terrorism and espionage cases in Germany.

In the new SPIEGEL format »SPIEGEL Backstage«, our journalists want to talk to you, dear subscribers.

You can ask the reporters questions about anything that interests you: How do they get their topics?

How do you gain the trust of your informants?

How do you protect your interlocutors - and how do you protect yourself?

How do you process your experiences?

The event is part of our program for the 75th birthday of SPIEGEL in January.

We want to use our anniversary as an opportunity to talk about journalism for the future - with you too!

We look forward to seeing you there.
